I am a self taught artist working in wool (Needle felting), acrylic pens, pencil and other drawing mediums (abstract art). I have always doodled since I was young but never truly had the confidence in what I made.
When my children were old enough to not need me as much, I realised I had lost my own identity and forgot how important having time for me was. I was inspired by a wonderful wool artist I saw whilst visiting a craft show in 2016, Christmas that same year I had a small needle felting kit and instructions have never looked back.

I create visually stimulating and immersive installations using mixed media, with a focus on technical materials, often incorporating glass. Through my work, I express my interest in representing the early symptoms of Macular Degeneration, a visual impairment. People with this sight deficiency can experience warped lines and movement, like an optical illusion. I use this as inspiration for my work, playing with recreating symptoms.
I love the mouldability of metal and the fragility of glass. I enjoy exploring the possibilities of both materials, pushing the boundaries of what is technically achievable. The interaction between the viewer and the object is very important to me. I want my work to be an experience!

Following a career in cartography, I did a degree in Graphic Design at Thames Valley University in 2009. Following that I did a part time local college course in basic art techniques. Voluntary artwork followed including a series of nature illustrations for interpretation boards for Henley Town Council. I took a break about five years ago from hands-on art. The files selected are samples from the ten year period I was most active. The CAMERA was part of my degree course "Artists Book" and is made from paper and card. The IRON is a pencil sketch. The watercolour PORTRAIT is of a fellow student. The APPLES were used on the Henley Community Orchard interpretation board.

A happy artist doing what I like doing best – painting! I usually paint in oils, but work in most mediums. Landscapes are my favourite, though I cover most subjects – anything except humans! I have painted for many years now, and it is something that has kept me sane through a busy and demanding working life, illness and many of life's problems! Personally, I feel we never stop learning and I love the challenge of trying new things.

Nao Hayashi-Green is a landscape artist specialising in local natural scenery. As a long-standing member of Whitecroft Studio in Maidenhead, Nao has been working with Donna White and other fellow artists and shown her work in Group Exhibitions and a number of local and national exhibitions.
Nao’s artistic aspiration has been to capture natural beauty such as the nuance of light, the formation of clouds in the sky, tree-lined riverbanks in various seasons and the ever-changing surface of the river. For Nao, the pleasure of painting landscapes is in the process of absorbing the environment she treasures and outputting it with her own emotional influence.
