I loved art at school but only went back to it ten years ago. I enjoy learning different techniques and using different mediums although I tend to use graphite, acrylics and mixed media more often than other materials. I particularly enjoy doing portraits in graphite and animals using acrylics.

I am an artist, illustrator, printmaker and tutor working across various mediums. After a varied foundation art year I trained as an Interior Designer at a time when all drawings and visualisations were made by hand. This gave me a good grounding for the mainly figurative artwork I have gone on to produce since.

I taught art and design at Further Education level for four years and continued teaching groups and individuals after I left to pursue my own work. I have exhibited with The Society of Women Artists at the Mall Galleries and with various prestigious exhibitions in the West of Scotland. I have won prizes for work in oil and in watercolour.

I have always sketched but only began painting en plein air with the whole kit a few years ago. When I use photos they are only ones I have taken with compositions for paintings in mind. This is best exemplified in my published children’s book ‘Meow’ where the illustrations are a compilation of images from my travels. I enjoy the process of designing how a page/surface will look whether it is an oil painting, a lino or screen print or an illustration.

Style and Technique are a killer in my opinion. I approach each piece of work in whatever way my observation dictates, whether it be the medium to use or the size and composition etc. If it’s a private commission the clients desires and specifications are paramount, but I do not work to deadlines. I do give a reasonable time frame in which to complete the work though. Prices vary accordingly. I’m always happy to discuss any shown interest without pressure to commit.

Wendy Reed

Wendy is a landscape photographer with a particular interest in woodland and river scenes and wildflowers, seeking out the best locations locally to capture their beauty through the seasons. She loves atmospheric weather conditions, especially mist and tries to convey to the viewer what she felt when she witnessed a beautiful scene or moment. Her resulting images often have an impressionistic and painterly appearance. She likes to get to know her area really well: the majority of her photographs are taken close to where she lives in Stoke Row.

She sells her images as fine art framed pictures, unframed prints and handmade cards. She prints her own photographs up to a certain size and uses a professional print company in Didcot for bigger images, and for a professional finish, uses a frame shop in Thame.
