I'm Jill McEvoy, a Canadian watercolourist living in Caversham along with my British husband of 58 years.
I began watercolour just before the pandemic and it was definitely something that helped me through the pandemic, and continues to help me cope with living with MS. The ease of sitting down with the minimum of tools is what is most attractive to me with this medium. At the moment I’m fascinated with ferns, but I paint any subject that takes my eye be it a landscape, seascape, animal, building … whatever really!
I show once a year on the Caversham Arts Trail. Commissions accepted.

I am a painter, living in Woodcote and have been professional since 2018. Predominantly I work in acrylic and pastel and paint landscapes and animals.

My aim is to create unique and striking work which resonates with the viewer. I transform what I see in nature with my own individual take on it. Colour and perspective are my main focus. I want viewers to feel that they can walk into the scene. The woodlands and landscape near my home provide the content for most of my work. The rolling hills of the Chilterns and The Ridgeway are a constant source of ideas.

I enjoy working closely with people to create commissioned pieces and I regularly take part in art trails, such as Henley Arts Trail and Oxfordshire Artweeks as well as local fairs. I am also stocked locally in galleries and shops.

I have been potting since 1997. I started with night classes then later took a City and Guilds course in Ceramic Design. While I now have my own studio in the garden (with both an electric and Raku kiln) I still attend an art group which is invaluable for improving my design and decorative ideas.
My current passion is garden pots - built of crank or stoneware clay, these combine slab and coiling techniques. These are then fired to stoneware temperatures (>1200 Celsius) and stored outside to ensure that they are frost proof. Stoneware glazes, terra sigillata and slips are used to decorate.
My raku pieces are much smaller - mainly sculptures of animals or vehicles.

When I was at school my favorite lesson was always Art. I even used to do other peoples homework as well as my own.

As I have got older, the urge to create has never faded. I still love it!

I spent many years as a hairdresser, it appealed to the Artist in me.

I loved all the creation's that being involved in Weddings and Competitions afforded me. I have appeared at the Royal Albert hall in London as a finalist for my hair creations! I have always loved creating things, and did my Art exams in embroidery.

Now I am a mixed media artist and like to keep busy trying out all the new materials available. I never want to stop learning. I use Acrylics, Foils, Metallic Paint, anything shiny and new makes me want to try it!

I live in Thame in Oxon and am a retired Early Years teacher. I ahve a busy life apart form my art making, with a love of reading, singing gardening and helping out with our 8 grandchildren! I took a History of Art BA on leaving school and then a Fine Art BA in my fifties. I joined Bodenpress printmaking studio in Herts. in 2014 and this signalled my focus upon printmaking. I produce prints in my garden studio on a traditional etching press or at Bodenpress. I tend to combine techniques, enjoying collagraph, drypoint, monoprint and screenprinting. I believe that my strong family background in the arts has played a huge role in the way I go about my art making. My relatives were part of the Silver Studio which was the foremost fabric and wallpaper design studio in the latter nineteenth and early twentieth centuries and I relate strongly to their use of pattern and colour in their designs. As well as showing my work in Bodenpress exhibitions, I take part in Oxford Artweeks, Thame Art Crawl and I am a member of Buckinghamshire Craft Guild and help man our gallery shop near Stoke Mandeville. .
