Past Events

Here is a selection of our past events and exhibitions.

Ceramics for Feline Lovers with Alison Pink

A very ‘catty’ workshop run by the talented Alison Pink!

A wonderful day passed so quickly as clay was rolled and moulded into a wonderful variety of cats !

Under Alison’s expert tuition a clowder of cats gradually emerged and gazed with feline knowing at our antics! Such a fun day and such hard work!

HACG Spring Exhibition 2023

What an exhibition! What talented members!

Nearly 1500 people came to the Exhibition over 11 days, with more than 800 visiting over the Henley Arts Trail (HAT) weekend.

A total of 41 members exhibited their work.  We hung 87 pictures, two photographs and 3 etchings, with a further 38 pictures in browsers. We displayed 5 sculptures, 16 ceramics, 7 fabric crafts, 4 woven scarves and 4 up-cycled items of furniture. There were also photo-books, jewellery and lots of cards.

Patterns and Portraits in Acrylics with Sue Tilbury

What a wonderful day!
Our first workshop in our new venue at Dunsden Village Hall where we gathered to paint portraits inspired by Frida Kahlo was an absolutely joyful event.

Vintage China Mosaic Workshop with Joanna Ferguson

To the sound of breaking plates, Jo Ferguson ensured that the day was fun and productive. Jo was a whirlwind of advice and helpful support, everyone made really lovely pique assiette mosaics and were delighted with their first attempts.

Bumblebees in Watercolour and Ink with Caroline Crawford

16 members gathered to create these fabulous bumblebee pictures using watercolour, ink pens & coloured pencils under the superb tuition of Caroline Crawford. Caroline breaks down the content into clearly explained sections, so what appears complicated and a bit daunting becomes very achievable – it’s true to say we were all “buzzing “ by the end!

Three Amazing Mini Books with Janina Maher

Our first workshop at a new venue, the warm and cosy Dunsden Village Hall, was a lovely day with everyone making three wonderfully different mini-books. Always well prepared, Janina’s workshop was perfectly paced with easy to follow demos and written instructions to back up the methods she had shown.

Pen and Watercolour Wash with Jonathan Newey

Friday 6th January saw a full house once again for our workshop “Pen and Watercolour Wash” with Jonathan Newey.

We look forward to seeing Jonathan Again soon.

Catching the Light in Landscapes

Friday 27th January saw a full house for our workshop “Capturing the Light in Oils” with Landscape Artist of the Year finalist, Shelagh Casebourne. It was clear from the start that not only is Shelagh an outstanding painter but also an engaging and gifted teacher giving us quick exercises to do to really clarify what we wanted in our paintings. The results speak for themselves – 14 diverse works which brought out unexpected qualities in all of us. A hugely enjoyable and successful workshop.

Figures in Landscape with Jenny Halstead

Glorious, messy soft pastels!
17 of us gathered for a day exploring this marvellous medium – some experienced pastellists and others absolute beginners.
