Workshop format:

  • Introduction to sustainable floristry methods, and equipment
  • Demonstration of how to design with foraged materials
  • Activity; how to condition (prepare) a variety of British Spring flowers & foliage
  • Demonstration of professional spiral hand-tied bouquet
  • Guided creation of your own spiral hand-tied bouquet for your favourite vase
  • Guided assembly of supporting vessels (jars & bottles)
  • Hands on experimentation of where to place your designs to make

a cohesive and practical display

 

Kathryn says “My teaching style is non-prescriptive and informal so participants will be able to ask questions throughout.

 

Tutor will provide:

  • Floristry scissors
  • floristry books for inspiration
  • buckets for green waste
  • pots for offcuts during making
  • twine
  • examples of sustainable mechanics used to make other arrangements.

 

Participants to bring:

  • 1 favourite vase
  • 3-5 small glass jars/ bottles each ideally of varying heights e.g. 1 jam jar, 1 sauce bottle, 1 miniature condiment jar but no worries if they are all the same.
  • Mixture of British Spring flowers and foliage.
