Spring Needle Felting

Workshop format:

  • The workshop will begin with everyone creating a series of small watercolour swatches, using the colours taken from the image. Felting is often described as “painting with wool,” so this first step gives you a chance to explore the palette before translating it into fibre.
  • After the watercolour stage, we’ll also make a few small wool samples so you can experiment with blending and layering the fibres before starting the main piece.
  • We’ll then move on to creating a needle‑felted landscape featuring three sheep. You’re welcome to work from your own reference image, or you can adapt the example image I provide—it’s simply there as a starting point for inspiration.

Tutor will provide:

  • All wool for the 2D spring landscape scene
  • All equipment needed to create it

Materials charge on the day is £5 for a 18x18cm shadow frame (optional)

Participants to bring:

  • A landscape photo (optional)

Please bring your own lunch but HACG will provide tea/coffee/milk.

Time and location: 27 May - 09:30am to 3:30pm at The Pavillion, Henley YMCA
